A number of smartphones were announced this week and they’re really impressive. Among those that launched a new smartphone include Google, Samsung, and Razer. To summarize, these are the new phones that headlined on a number of news sources:
The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are among the most anticipated devices of the year. Coming from Google’s Pixel lineup, there’s a lot of good to expect from the new smartphones. When it comes to the design, the two look a lot like their predecessors. Looking deeper into the two smartphones, you’ll see that they are nothing alike the earlier Pixel models that came out.
For starters, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL come with a 5.5-inch Full HD+ and 6.3-inch FHD+ Flexible OLED display, respectively. Both run on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 4GB of RAM (Pixel 3) and 6GB of RAM (Pixel 3 XL). They both also include an option for either the 64GB or 128GB storage capacity.
The camera on both devices are the same: a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with f/1.8 aperture and dual autofocus. In front, there is an 8-megapixel + 8-megapixel f/1.8 and f/2.2 dual-selfie camera. Both models are equipped with a rear fingerprint scanner, IPX8 waterproofing, wireless charging, and run on Android 9.0 Pie. The battery on the Pixel 3 is 2915mAh while there is a 3430mAh battery on the Pixel 3 XL.
The two Pixel 3 models are available in Just Black, Clearly White, and Not Pink color options. They are both available for pre-orders from the Google Store with a scheduled October 18 launch in the US. Pricing for the two phones starts at $799 (Pixel 3) and $899 (Pixel 3 XL).
The Razer Phone 2 follows the footsteps of its predecessor, the Razer Phone. It has been dubbed as the “gaming phone” thanks to its cutting-edge specs. To start with, the Razer Phone 2 comes with a 5.7-inch IPS LCD display. It runs on a powerful 2.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 8GB of RAM, 64GB of onboard storage, and up to 1TB external storage expansion via a microSD card.
The Razer Phone 2 can take pictures with its dual-camera configuration on the back composed of a 12-megapixel f/1.75 wide sensor and another 12-megapixel f/2.6 telephoto lens. In front, there is an 8-megapixel f/2.0 camera for selfies and video calls. The phone also comes with wireless charging, 4000mAh Li-Po battery, IP67 water resistance, a fingerprint sensor, and NFC. Upon release, the phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo.
If you are interested in this device, you can pre-order it from Razer’s website at a price of $799.
Another smartphone that was unveiled this week is the Samsung Galaxy A9. One of the things that make this a truly remarkable smartphone is the fact that it comes with four cameras on the back; making it the world’s first smartphone with this feature. The back camera is composed of a 24-megapixel main sensor with f/1.7 aperture and LED flash. There’s also a 10-megapixel camera with f/2.4 aperture, an 8-megapixel sensor with f/2.4 aperture and 120-degree viewing angle, and a 5-megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture. In front, another 24-megapixel camera can be used for selfies and video calls.
The rest of its specs also make it an interesting device. To start with, there is a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080x2220 pixels. The Galaxy A9 runs on a 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with 6GB of RAM, 128GB internal storage, and up to 512GB memory expansion via a microSD card. Samsung has included a 3800mAh battery with Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging capability. The phone also includes NFC and a fingerprint scanner. Upon release, the phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and is available in Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue, and Bubblegum Pink.
Samsung’s new smartphone will be available at $724 and will be ready for release in November.
