Earlier today, Boost Mobile revealed its plans to acquire Gen Mobile.
The Dish Network-owned brand has not disclosed full details about the deal but it shared that this will allow Boost to distribute to a larger segment of the low income population as it continues to expand in the market.
This makes a lot of sense, especially since the T-Mobile MVNO has wireless plans that start at $10/month. Gen Mobile is also known for offering discounts to customers who wish to pay for service in advance.
“Gen Mobile has an established brand, a proven team and an unwavering commitment to connect the underserved. The brand is a natural addition as we look to reach all segments of the mobile market,” Boost Mobile’s Executive Vice President, Stephen Stokols, shared.
Ever since Dish acquired Boost Mobile from T-Mobile in July last year, it has been on a buying spree. Prior to this acquisition, Dish also acquired Ting Mobile in August 2020 and Republic Wireless in March 2021.
If you are a Gen Mobile customer, you may expect to be shifted over to AT&T’s network considering Dish Network’s current standing with T-Mobile. But there has not been any announcements on when this will eventually happen.
