Back in July, Samsung introduced a new feature that its smartphone users found really useful. The South Korean manufacturer made it possible for smartphone users to block access to data on their phones while it is being serviced. The feature, called Maintenance mode, is now ready to roll out in other parts of the world. In Korea, the feature is called Repair mode.
As revealed by GSMArena, Samsung will be rolling out Maintenance mode in select models starting from the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22 running One UI 5. They will continue to rollout the feature to more Galaxy devices through 2023.
Once you get the feature on your phone, you can enable it by going to Settings > Battery and device care. By turning on Maintenance mode, all of your personal information won’t be accessible to the person repairing your device when you reboot your device. They also won’t have access to your installed apps. This means they simply have access to the apps downloaded from the Galaxy Store and data and accounts they create while in Maintenance mode. When you exit Maintenance mode, these will automatically be deleted. You can tap your quick settings icon and authenticate using your fingerprint. This will reboot your device to normal.
