June is Pride month. And with this celebration, Verizon’s prepaid brand is doing something special for its LGBTQ+ elders.
Recently, the company released a 1970s-themed show hosted by Benito Skinner aka Benny Drama. The game show, called “No Straight Answers”, is a fun challenge for two teams: The Old Gays and The Young Slays.
This game show is in partnership with SAGE, an organization that advocates for older LGBTQ+ individuals. As pointed out by SAGE, this market is usually overlooked. And with this game show, Visible is including them.
Verizon is also donating $50,000 to support the different programs offered by SAGE, such as the SAGE Hotline, which works to connect older LGBTQ+ people with friendly and trained responders.
In a statement to Fierce Wireless, a Visible representative said:
“Since its inception, Visible has never wavered in its support of the LGBTQ+ community and has partnered with organizations including PFLAG, GLAAD, Trans Lifeline, SAGE, and the It Gets Better Project. We will always maintain our commitment to uplifting the voices and stories of people within the LGBTQ+ community, and we will continue to work with our impact partners to identify the best moments throughout the year to do so.”
This partnership will go beyond the month of June. Visible is looking for more ways they can support LGBTQ+ elders with SAGE.
