AT&T, Verizon, and the phone's manufacturer itself have all confirmed that the HTC One M8 for Windows is set to hit stores.
Amidst earlier leaks hinting when and where the One M8 for Windows smartphone might be available, HTC enthusiasts finally get a definite date as to when they can get their hands on the Taiwan-based company's newest Windows-run offering. And buyers will no doubt be glad to know that not one but two carriers are up to the task of making the HTC device available for American users.
Starting August 20, Verizon will be offering the HTC One M8 for Windows on- and off-contract. Buyers can either get the phone by paying $99.00 on a two-year More Everything plan, or pay zero dollars upfront but shell out $29.99 monthly for a period of two years via Verizon Edge.
Verizon has announced earlier that they will be the exclusive carrier of the HTC One M8 for Windows. Apparently, that is no longer the case. Through its website, AT&T has now also confirmed that it will be carrying the smartphone. As a matter of fact, AT&T is now inviting interested buyers to sign up via the carrier's website for more future updates regarding the offer. However, the carrier has not yet released any statement that would shed light about the phone's pricing details and more importantly, its release date.
For some time now, fans of Windows Phone have been making do with the limited choices of premium handsets that run on Microsoft's mobile operating system. With the introduction of the HTC One M8 for Windows phone and the fact that it's being carried by Verizon and AT&T, the range of available options for Windows-run smartphones should improve and maybe even continue to expand in the years to come.
The One M8 is a sequel to the successful HTC One smartphone, which was released in the year 2013. When the One M8 came out earlier this year, it was only capable of running on an Android operating system, namely the Android 4.4. But now that the new HTC One M8 for Windows phone is set to be available to a wide market, buyers will be able to experience for themselves a fresh premium device that runs on Microsoft's Windows Phone 8.1.
The HTC One M8 for Windows shares most of the features of the earlier Android version (except for the operating system, obviously). Buyers will be treated with a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 super LCD3 display as well as an UltraPixel rear and 5-megapixel front camera. Techies will no doubt geek out over the 2.3 GigaHertz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, not to mention the 32 gigabytes internal storage (with a microSD slot for cards up to 128 gigabytes) and the 2 gigabytes random access memory. Topping all that is a 2600 mAh battery, DotView case support, and for audiophiles, BoomSound front-facing speakers. Know more about what HTC offers by comparing HTC phones and plans here.
