Back in January earlier this year, Microsoft introduced two new Lumia handsets that were priced under $100. The Lumia 532, which came with a 4 inch display screen and 5 megapixel rear camera, can be purchased for only $93. The other Lumia phone, the Lumia 435, was even cheaper -- featuring a 4 inch display screen and a 2 megapixel rear camera, the device only costs $77.
Now, Microsoft is introducing another Lumia handset that is even more budget-friendly than the Lumia 435 -- the Lumia 430, which is priced at $70. The device has roughly the same specifications as the Lumia 532 and the Lumia 435 with a few slight differences.
Like the Lumia 532 and the Lumia 435, Microsoft's newest Lumia offering features a 4 inch display screen, but its rear camera only comes in at 2 megapixels. With regards to the hardware it is packing, the Lumia 430 is equipped with a 1.2 GigaHertz Snapdragon processor that is supported with 1 gigabyte of random access memory (RAM), as well as 8 gigabytes of internal storage. Those who want more storage flexibility may be delighted to know that the 8 gigabyte space can be expanded with the use of a micro SD card.
You can not really expect mind-blowing specs when it comes to budget friendly smartphone offerings like the Lumia handsets. But Microsoft's line of smartphone products do have some interesting services bundles together with its low-cost phones, especially software services that users can take full advantage of.
In the case of the Lumia 430, it comes pre-installed with 30 gigabytes of cloud storage via OneDrive, Skype, and Microsoft Office. Also, although the Lumia 430 will be powered by the Windows 8.1 mobile operating system (including the most recent Denim update), Microsoft has revealed that the device will likely be upgraded to Windows 10 sometime later this year.
Barring any other similar Lumia releases in the near future, it appears that the Lumia 430 will take the title of being the cheapest smartphone available that runs on Windows 10. The device is expected to hit stores by next month, and will initially be pushed in certain markets in the Asia Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, and Russia. India, one of the fastest growing emerging markets for mobile in the world today, should see the Lumia 430 hit its shores by late April.
