Good news for fans of Microsoft’s Surface series of tablet devices -- the company has decided to offer its Surface Pro 4 tablet with a generous discount of $100, with the discount applying to all five variants of the device. On top of that, the tech giant has also decided to sell its newest activity tracking wearable device, the Microsoft Band 2, at $50 off. Microsoft’s discounted prices for its Surface Pro 4 tablet and Microsoft Band 2 wearable device is good through February 27th and February 20th, respectively, of this year.
It should be noted though that the discounted prices only applies to Surface Pro 4 or Microsoft Band 2 devices purchased from the Microsoft Store, as well as the company’s retail outlets located within the United States and Puerto Rico. This means that devices bought from any other store will not be discounted.
The Surface Pro 4 tablet was first launched by Microsoft back in October of last year. It gained some interest by virtue of its convertibility -- it can actually turn into a laptop as long as the user uses an attachable keyboard to the tablet.
With Microsoft still struggling with sales of its traditional personal computers, the company had to explore new ways in which it can boost its sales, and also find a means for pushing Windows 10, its new, unified operating system for computers and mobile devices. Venturing into tablet devices and fitness trackers could be it. Although obviously, Microsoft will have to deal with a lot of competition. Hybrid tablet/laptop devices are nothing new -- as a matter of fact, other companies such as Dell and Lenovo also offer similar tablets to Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4. As for the Microsoft Band 2, there is no shortage of smartwatches, activity trackers, and other wearable devices in the market today, most of them with similar health related features as Microsoft’s offering.
Still, competition notwithstanding, the Surface Pro 4 tablet from Microsoft has a lot to offer. Outfitted with a 12.3 inch high resolution display screen, the Surface Pro 4 also boasts variants that come with an Intel M3 chip set (4 gigabytes of random access memory, 128 gigabytes of onboard memory) or an Intel Core i7 processor (16 gigabytes of RAM, 256 gigabytes of internal storage). These variants come with prices of $799 and $1,699, respectively. A discount of a hundred bucks could really attract interested buyers.
