While it is true that Samsung’s most recent flagship device offering -- the Galaxy S9 models -- already come in impressive color options (namely Midnight Black, Coral Blue, Titanium Gray, and funky Lilac Purple), fans of the South Korean smartphone brand can all agree that a new color option will certainly not hurt.
Well, a new version is indeed coming soon -- the Sunrise Gold edition of the Galaxy S9 will be launching this coming June 24th, by way of Samsung’s own stores and through Best Buy. Interested parties might be delighted to know that at Samsung, the Sunrise Gold Galaxy S9 variant will feature the same pricing as the other Galaxy S9 colors -- the 64 gigabyte edition will cost $719.99, the 128 gigabyte edition at $769.99, and the 256 gigabyte edition at $839.99. As for the Sunrise Gold Galaxy S9 Plus, the prices are at $839.99 (64 gigabytes), $889.99 (128 gigabytes), and $959.99 (256 gigabytes).
As of this writing, Best Buy is offering the unlocked Galaxy S9 (64 gigabyte edition) at a discounted price of $699.99 and the Galaxy S9 Plus at $789.99 (64 gigabyte edition). This same pricing will also be true for the Sunrise Gold Galaxy S9 sold by the electronics retail giant. Prospective buyers can either purchase the new color option from Best Buy for activation in any of the networks of Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and Sprint, or they can get it unlocked. Samsung’s official online store also offers the Sunrise Gold edition unlocked.
So what exactly makes the Sunrise Gold Galaxy S9 special? As far as specifications, features, and functionalities are concerned, this new edition is pretty much identical to the previous Galaxy S9 editions. The Sunrise Gold color, however, comes with a satin gloss finish, which marks the first time ever that Samsung has adopted the finish for a Galaxy smartphone device. According to the South Korean tech giant, this finish combines a satiny and matte texture in order to produce a fabric texture effect.
It was more than a month ago when Samsung had first revealed that it was planning to release new color options for its 2018 flagships. When it made its announcement, the company said that the Galaxy S9 will soon feature Sunrise Gold and Burgundy Red versions. The phone maker is rather fond of introducing new colors for existing high end handsets. Some may remember that back in January early this year, the mobile manufacturer also introduced a 2018 Winter Olympics version of last year’s Galaxy Note 8 phablet.
