Slowly but surely. This phrase sure does apply to the HTC One (M8) for Windows phone, at least in terms of the number of its carriers in the United States.
When the HTC One (M8) for Windows was officially launched earlier this month, it was announced that the new HTC device was to be carried only by one carrier -- Verizon Wireless. Naturally, certain users, especially those not under any Verizon plan, worried that they may not be able to get their hands on HTC's flagship handset.
But it turned out that Verizon's hold on the One (M8) for Windows was not that exclusive after all. Immediately after Verizon's announcement, AT&T made one of its own. Although it did not release clear details on date of availability and pricing, AT&T confirmed that they were planning to carry the Windows-run device, too.
And just recently, another carrier in the US has stated it will sell the handset as well. This carrier is none other than T-Mobile. The Uncarrier has revealed that it will carry the HTC One (M8) for Windows phone sometime in the fall season.
Like AT&T, T-Mobile has not divulged any additional information regarding pricing. However, the carrier did set up a special page in its official website that allows people to register in order to get future updates regarding HTC's new device.
As of now, three of the four top US carriers have revealed plans to carry the HTC One (M8) for Windows phone. The only other major carrier that is still holding out, of course, is Sprint. Sprint has carried HTC devices before and it may only be a matter of time before it also starts pushing the One (M8) for Windows phone. And it should be noted that the HTC One (M8) Android version was carried by all four major carriers, so there is a good chance the Windows Phone version will get the same treatment. But even if Sprint does not sell the device, three out of four is still not a bad deal for HTC, all things considered.
Aside from the operating system, the HTC One (M8) for Windows shares most of the features of the Android HTC One (M8). It has a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 super LCD3 display screen and an UltraPixel rear camera, plus a 5-megapixel front camera. The phone also features a 2.3 GigaHertz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 32 gigabytes internal storage (with a microSD slot for cards up to 128 gigabytes), and 2 gigabytes random access memory. Its other features include a 2600 mAh battery, DotView case support, and BoomSound front-facing speakers.
