AT&T and Cricket Wireless are making their services more affordable for eligible customers.
According to a press release, the carrier has started to open enrollment for the new Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) offered by the government. Through this program, the monthly cost of broadband service will be lowered to customers who meet eligibility requirements.
This program is part of the long-term $14 billion Affordable Connectivity Program that was recently created by Congress. It will replace the currently existing Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) program. With this, more Americans will get the assistance they need to have their needed broadband access for work, school, healthcare, and many more.
Through this program, eligible households will be able to get up to $30 per month in assistance for broadband access. Meanwhile, for households that fall under Tribal lands qualification, the monthly benefit will remain at $75 per month.
As of this writing, existing EBB customers can continue to receive monthly benefits of up to $50 per month. The new rate will be applied after March 1st.
