The OnePlus 12 was released in the US last February 6th. After its release, there hasn’t been any reports of the device encountering hiccups. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said with the more affordable variant, OnePlus 12R.
According to recent reports, the OnePlus 12R doesn’t work on Verizon Wireless devices. The device is supposed to work on this network without any problems. A user shared his frustration on XDA forums where the several OnePlus 12Rs he purchased all encountered the same “Invalid IMEI” issue on Big Red.
Turning to OnePlus’ customer support for help, the user shared that he has been waiting for over a week. The smartphone manufacturer has also released a statement to AndroidAuthority addressing the concern:
“The OnePlus 12R is able to work with all major carriers and on all major 5G networks in the US, including Verizon. We are currently investigating unexpected cases that users may be having with Verizon’s network, and are working with the carrier to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
As revealed by GSMArena, this is the first time that an R series device is available in the US. The report also alleges that OnePlus did not carefully prepare the device’s launch. With OnePlus’ statement, it seems like the best thing to do at this point is to hold off on purchasing this device until its kinks have been sorted out.
