T-Mobile plans to shut down Metro by T-Mobile corporate-owned retail stores

Shortly after January began, there were reports that T-Mobile planned to close its brick-and-mortar stores. This was confirmed by T-Mo’s President of Consumer Group, Jon Freier, in a blog post as they were making distribution changes. Fast forward to a few weeks and it looks like this decision will also include corporate-owned Metro by T-Mobile stores.

But as revealed by BestMVNO, there are 186 corporate-owned Metro by T-Mobile retail stores. And to date, there are more than 7,000 dealer-owned stores that offer the prepaid brand’s products. 

And while T-Mobile has already laid off several regional and store managers, it is leaving some of these stores to dealers to assume management.
