Not that keen in getting an unlimited plan? FreedomPop is introducing a new yearly plan that tickle your fancy. The mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) is adding another annual option specifically designed for those who do not mind not getting unlimited, but still want to take full advantage of the carrier’s free wireless service.
FreedomPop’s new plan costs $49 per year, and it already comes with a thousand voice call minutes, another thousand text messages, and a gigabyte of data every month. For good measure, the mobile operator also took the opportunity to debut packages that pair a handset purchase with the new annual plan, plus one whole year of service for those customers who are okay with spending $149 for Samsung’s Galaxy S5, or $79 for LG’s Tribute.
With other wireless carriers, an unlimited data plan for a single line of service is usually offered at a cost of $70 per month (or more). It goes without saying that seventy bucks every month is a bit much, especially for those mobile users who actually only use up only 3 gigabytes or less on average in any given billing cycle.
As explained by Steven Sesar, the chief operations officer of FreedomPop, the MVNO is trying to shift from that model of offering wireless service with a monthly bill. True enough, with FreedomPop, customers can just make a one time purchase, not only getting to avail of a mobile plan but also a new mobile device, and then never have to worry about meeting any monthly payments going forward. Sesar further stated that as wireless prices are decreasing recently, FreedomPop can do its part in granting mobile users even more financial flexibility by introducing generous discounts for yearly plans.
Some will see the annual plan as something new for FreedomPop. The carrier has managed to attract quite a following by making full use of a freemium model, and then upselling the customers it gains into larger packages or other value added services, like extra local phone numbers for customers in foreign countries, or a safety mode that minimizes overage fees. Apart from offering mobile devices, FreedomPop also sells SIM cards that users can activate on their own handsets. Interested in exploring other offers?
