TCL’s new affordable smartphone is finally in the US.
The TCL 40XL was released in May 2023 but did not make its way to US shores. With today’s announcement, customers can now get their hands on the affordable device.
The TCL 40XL comes with a 6.75-inch HD+ resolution. From within, the device is powered by a 2.3GHz Octa-Core MediaTek Helio G37 processor with two storage options: 4GB RAM/128GB and 6GB RAM/256GB.
There are three cameras on the back: a 50-megapixel main sensor and two 2-megapixel cameras. In front, there is an 8-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls. The 40XL is powered by a 5,000mAh battery and operates on Android 13 upon unboxing. It doesn’t support 5G or NFC.
As of this writing, the 40XL is available from TCL and Amazon for $150 with a 12% discount. The discount is available for a limited time only so it’s something you should look at if you are planning to get the device. The $150 price is for the base model, which comes with 4GB RAM/128GB storage. The higher-tiered model comes with a 6GB RAM/256GB storage and sells for $200. Amazon also has a $20 discount on it right now.
The good news is that the TCL 40XL is compatible with just about any carrier and MVNO in the US. The only brands which the phone is not compatible with include Boost Mobile, Boost Infinite, Pine Cellular, Xfinity Mobile, Union Wireless, Air Voice, Assurance Wireless, and Sprint.
This device comes with a one-year limited manufacturer warranty.
